Anne Terry, MS, CCTP, Licensed School Counselor, Resident In Counseling

Anne has worked with children and their families for over 25 years in her role as a an Licensed Elementary School Counselor in Virginia. Her focus is helping elementary aged children learn to understand their emotions and behaviors, adjust to school, improve attention concerns and manage stress and worries. Her person-centered, individualized approach uses techniques that based cognitive behavioral therapy that are modified to fit the needs of younger clients. Anne believes that collaboration with parents is a great way to improve the effectiveness of the counseling process. She believes helping children build their emotional management skills and confidence can help them persevere through life’s ups and downs.

journey toward mental wellness. I am passionate about tailoring our time together using a
variety of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Play Therapy. You are the
expert in your own life, and I am honored to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts
and experiences.
As a proud combat veteran, my guiding principle, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast,” emphasizes
taking the time to address the prominent issues affecting your well-being at a pace that feels
comfortable for you to excel.
With over five years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of working
with children, adolescents, and adults navigating challenges like PTSD, trauma, depression,
anxiety, and ADHD. I am deeply committed to breaking down the stigma surrounding mental
health, especially within the first responders community. I genuinely believe that mastering your
mind can unlock limitless potential. Whether you are seeking to process your experiences, develop new coping strategies, or simply find a safe space to share your feelings, I am here tosupport you.When I am not working, you might find me hiking scenic trails, enjoying playful moments with my little one, gathering around a cozy campfire, or sharing laughs with my husband.

Jennifer Nocito, MS, Licensed School Counselor, Resident in Counseling,
Jennifer has her MS in School Counseling & Childhood Development and has been a Licensed School Counselor since 2014. She has worked in education with students K-12 throughout the past 10 years, with her primary focus on children ages 10-14. Jennifer uses a variety of therapeutic techniques to support her clients including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems, person-centered therapy, and art therapy. Jennifer has experience as including changing families, stress and worry management, and effective communication & decision making skills. Jennifer has a lifelong affinity for horses and will also be pursuing her Equine Specialist in Mental Health Certification in the near future. Jennifer, her husband and her twin 16 year old daughters live in Western Prince William County. She enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, hiking, gardening, and playing with their three dogs.

Julia Katharos, MA, CCTP

Julia holds a master’s
degree in Clinical Mental
Health Counseling. She is
a Certified trauma practitioner and is currently being trained in EMDR. Julia brings a holistic, trauma-informed approach to her work, drawing from a range of therapeutic frameworks, including humanistic, somatic, spiritual, DBT, existential and trauma-focused care. Julia has a diverse range of clinical experience, having worked in juvenile detention centers, full-service community health clinics, nonprofit organizations, and private practice settings.
These varied environments have given her a deep understanding of how to meet clients where they are, particularly those facing complex life challenges.
Specializing in complex trauma, grief, crisis, high-risk adolescents, domestic and intimate partner violence survivors, men’s trauma and the legal system challenges. Julia brings warmth, authenticity, directness, and a touch of humor to her sessions. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for true healing and awakening.

Adrienne Freeland, M.S. Prospective Resident In Counseling (Waitlist)

Adrienne has recently completed her Clinical Mental Health Counseling Internship with
The Blue Ridge Hospice Grief and Loss Support Services team. She comes to us with a
background in Recreational Therapy and as a Professional Association of Therapeutic
Horsemanship Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, PATH CTRI.Adrienne has served a variety of individuals throughout her career with her early career
emphasis on Neurological Rehabilitation in the Inpatient Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation setting. The past ten plus years saw her providing Equine Assisted Learning, EAL groups for active military, veterans, First responders, college campuses, corporate team building, and those grieving. Adrienne’s mission for this chapter of life is to continue to serve those experiencing isolation and loneliness as a Resident in CMHC. Adrienne will be sitting with her clients in the office location downtown and on her farm located 3 miles from our current location. Licensed Residents in Counseling & Counseling Interns

A Licensed Resident in Counseling is a professional on the path to becoming a fully licensed counselor. This status typically applies to individuals who have completed their educational requirements for counseling but need to gain supervised experience before becoming independently licensed. Key qualifications include:

Education: A Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited program. Common degrees include Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MS) in Counseling, or a Master of Education (MEd) in Counseling.
Licensure Exam: Most jurisdictions require passing a licensing exam, such as the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
Supervised Practice: Residents typically complete several thousand hours (often 2,000 to 4,000) of supervised counseling experience under a licensed supervisor over a period of one to three years.
Licensure Requirements: Requirements may vary by state or country, but licensed residents in counseling are generally recognized as providing counseling services under supervision.

Masters-Level Interns in Counseling are students who are completing their graduate-level education in counseling. They are not yet licensed and work under the supervision of a licensed counselor or therapist. Qualifications for an internship generally include:

Education: Enrollment in a graduate program for a Master’s in Counseling or a related field. Interns are typically in their final year of a Master's program.
Supervised Practicum/Internship: Interns engage in a structured practicum or internship, which involves hands-on experience with clients in a clinical or school setting, under supervision. Programs often require 600-700 hours of supervised practice, with a portion being direct client contact.
Scope of Practice: Masters-level interns are allowed to provide counseling services under close supervision but cannot practice independently.

These professionals are essential in gaining practical experience and contributing to client care in a supervised setting while working toward full licensure.
